On December 18, 2012, the Honorable Judge Valeriano Saucedo sentenced 51-year-old Cary Maurice Nealy, of Visalia, to 6 years and 8 months in state prison for five separate felony counts of lewd acts on a child aged 15 and one felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under age 16. The Court imposed the aggravated sentence.
On September 20, 2012, a Tulare County jury returned a guilty verdict convicting Nealy on all counts. At today*s sentencing, Judge Saucedo granted the District Attorney*s request that the aggravated sentence be imposed. Judge Saucedo found Nealy*s lack of remorse and decision to target a particularly vulnerable victim as some of several factors in
aggravation.
In 2011, Nealy lured the victim to his house and later molested her in the City of Visalia. At one point Nealy hid the victim and her friend in the back yard of his residence when his girlfriend and child unexpectedly arrived.
This case was investigated by Detective Chris Jennings of the Visalia Police Department and Investigator Brandon Hall of the District Attorney*s Bureau of Investigations. Deputy District Attorney Matthew Darby prosecuted the case on behalf of the People.
