Two viral videos appear to capture Black Friday shoppers pouncing on a crate of cell phones at a Walmart in Moultrie, Georgia earlier Friday.
The scene at the Moultrie Walmart is reminiscent of the riot over $2 waffle irons that broke out a Little Rock, Ark., Walmart last year on Black Friday.
But the mania explain why Black Friday 2012 events have been Walmart’s “best-ever.” The store said in a news release Friday morning that during the “high traffic” period between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. Thursday “Walmart processed nearly 10 million register transactions and almost 5,000 items per second.” Electronics — big-screen TVs, tablets, laptops and digital cameras — have been the best-selling items so far.
