FRESNO- A third grade student at Yokomi Middle School has learned her school is the winner of a $10,000 prize from Nickelodon Networks.
Samantha Toledo entered a contest and nominated her school for the Nickelodeon's The Big Help contest and they won, making Yokomi one of five winners of the $10,000 prize from the network.
The prize money will help make enhancements in encouraging students to become more physically active.
Principal Bruce Thele says that Samantha will be the leader in the effort to get ideas for how to use the funds. Thele hopes to have a direction on where the students, teachers, parents and others would like to go with this effort by mid-February.
The school hopes to enjoy the new enhancements this school year.
