WEB EXTRA: News Conference on Steve Fossett's plane

By KSEE News

The wreckage of missing millionaire Steve Fossett's plane was found in the Sierra Nevada mountains 12 miles from Mammoth Lakes. Madera County Sheriff John Anderson held an early morning news conference to say the wreckage was positively identified as Fossett's single engine plane that disappeared more than a year ago. The search began after a hiker found some ID cards with Steve Fossett's name on them near the crash site. This is raw video of Sheriff Anderson's news conference this morning. The picture above is one taken of the plane wreckage. No human remains have been found so far.

I don't know much about plane crashes but I thought that if a plane crashed soon after take off that because of the fuel they are carrying (should be almost a full tank right?) that usually the crash is firey...but the photo doesn't look like it caught fire. Also if they have no body then why are they saying that they are going to review his medical records. Maybe I am missing something but that just seemed odd to me. I am glad they finally found the plane after all this time.
