Hair loss is often a side effect of chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients. As the drugs travel throughout the body to kill cancer cells, some of these drugs damage hair follicles.
Wigs are an option for women during this period. The American Cancer Society recommends women choose a wig before treatment begins so that hair color and texture can easily be matched. Local wig shops offer a variety of colors and styles to choose from at a range of prices.
