The West Fresno Health Care Coalition is getting creative in its efforts to spread breast cancer awareness. The coalition is using grant money from the Susan G. Komen Foundation to promote its "We Care" project. For the last year, stylists from seven West Fresno hair salons have been educating clients on the importance of yearly mammograms. Now, the coalition is focusing on getting the message out at West Fresno area churches. The coalition says it's important to get the message to African-American women in our community, because statistics prove they are more likely to die of breast cancer than women of other ethnicities.
