    Free mammograms and cervical cancer screenings are available to low income and uninsured women through a federally and state funded program called "Every Woman Counts." The program serves 5,000 California women every year, including many in the central valley.

    Clovis resident Christine Morgan has written a book offering advice to families who are coping with breast cancer. Morgan's younger sister Connie was diagnosed five years ago. At that time, Morgan looked for resources to help her cope and support her sister. She wasn't able to find anything, so Morgan wrote her own book.

    62-year-old Laurie Smith of Selma is a breast cancer survivor and is thankful for life this holiday season. Smith underwent breast cancer surgery in March and is feeling great. She encourages all women to get yearly mammograms and do their monthly checks.

    The Sunnyside High School Lacrosse team is participating in a district-wide tournament and raising money for breast cancer awareness.

    33-year-old Chinayera Black Hardaman found a suspicious lump in her right breast in November of 2007. It turned out to be cancerous. She encourages all women to make their health a priority and do their breast self exams.
