Sherie Roberts of Clovis has had one busy year. She's a SF Giants fan and got to throw out a first pitch at a recent Fresno Grizzlies game. She also completed her first half-marathon and graduated from Fresno State. She also was diagnosed and is recovering from breast cancer.

Local Survivor is Outrunning Breast Cancer
32-year-old Jamie Ledezma of Fresno is a five year breast cancer survivor. That's a huge milestone considering she was diagnosed at age 27 when she was 14 weeks pregnant. Ledezma was treated for cancer during her pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby boy. Now she's telling her story to a national audience with an article in the October issue of Shape Magazine, and in a video and advertisments for the Underarmor apparel company's Power In Pink clothing line. Ledezma says it's an opportunity to share her message about the importance of early detection.

Kaiser Permanente in Fresno is now offering a breast cancer support group for young cancer patients. It's designed for women under 50 who may have unique concerns or needs as they battle the disease.

New Calif. Law Involving Breast Density
As of April 1st, women with dense breasts who have a mammogram will be notified of the condition by their screening facility. The law requires specific wording of that notification.
