July marked the first monthly increase in gas prices since march.

Triple A says prices rose by 5.1 percent or 17 cents a gallon last month.

Economists say the price rose because of higher global oil prices and increased demands for gasoline during the busy summer driving season.

Hawaii tops the list with a gallon of regular gas at $4.15.

Alaska is second with regular gas at 4 dollars a gallon and Connecticut is third at $3.82 cents a gallon.
