The deadly crash left behind a path of destruction. There were pieces of wood and twisted scraps scattered across a church parking lot. The scene moments after the accident, too gruesome for witness Cody Workman to describe, "it was bad...really bad," he said.

The accident happened just north of Kerman at Shields and Madera. CHP Officers say a silver Saturn was speeding and ran a stop sign. A Buick heading south had no time to react and collided with it.

The impact ejected 2 men from the Saturn. One of them was decapitated. The other was thrown against a gazebo. Both men died at the scene. A third passenger was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries.

Workman said he ran over to help the people in the Buick. "My thoughts and prayers are with the families," he added, "just think about life, you can go at any time."

Those two men were also taken to the hospital. Their injuries were moderate. CHP Officer Victor Heredia said the accident is a deadly reminder. "Slow down, watch your speed, watch your intersections. There's a lot of cars out there today."
