The KSEE 24 family is mourning the loss of one of it's own...
Longtime news anchor Brent DeMonte passed away Sunday morning.
DeMonte joined the KSEE staff back in 1964, doing the weather on the 6 o'clock news and anchoring the 11 o'clock show.
Former co-workers noted his good writing skills and professionalism, both on and off-camera.
He was also remembered for being a good baseball player, and for his love of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
Long-time co-worker Pat Ogle saw DeMonte just three weeks ago and says he was as bright-eyed as he's ever been.
"He could do whatever he wanted to do. He could be a reporter. Obviously he was on the air for a number of years as an anchor person and did weather. Once in a while he'd get a chance to do sports."
Ogle says DeMonte was missing his wife Elizabeth, who died late last year.
DeMonte had some medical problems in recent years, and was a heart attack survivor who ran marathons.
Brent DeMonte is a local news legend, and will be greatly missed.
