Elsa and Blake Fox have a lot to be happy about, their baby girl, Onyx is healthy. She's 19 inches long and weighs 7lbs, 11oz. On top of that, she's Visalia's first baby of the year, born at 3:24 Tuesday morning.

Blake Fox said, "The moment I saw her crying and healthy, I was just so happy I can't even explain it."

It wasn't a serious race for Blake and Elsa but there was friendly competition in the hospital. Down the hall and about an hour later, Christian Espinoza made his first appearance.

Christian's mom, Dolores Trujillo said, "Very happy, even though he was the second, very happy."

Dolores was only in labor for about 5 hours, a lot less than Elsa. But she says Christian is a pound heavier than the competition and a little over an inch longer. "The doctor said he's the second one because he was too chubby, the girl was slimmer than him," Dolores said jokingly.

New Year's Day wasn't the due date for either baby, it just worked out this way. Elsa says she actually wanted to have Onyx a little earlier, "We were joking around because we were saying we had to make it for the taxes," she said as she laughed.

Onyx won't remember this day, in fact she slept through the whole interview but she is Visalia's 2013 baby new year. "It's really special and it's something that's going to be really special for Onyx, something we can pass down to her she can be tickled about," Blake Fox said.

Both couples received gift baskets from Kaweah Delta Hospital in honor of it's 50th anniversary.
