The Fresno State campus was full of students heading back to class Wednesday.
This fall there's more than 3,000 freshman, the largest number in school history.
Those students are embarking on their college careers amid uncertain economic times for the university.
If voters don't approve a November tax hike initiative, more cuts will be coming next semester.
As it stands now, previous budget reductions have increased CSU tuition this fall by almost $500.
The annual price tag now stands at nearly $6,000.
Administrators say despite the cutbacks there's still plenty of emphasis on a quality education.
