Fresno Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened near Chestnut and Kings Canyon around 9:40 Monday night. Investigators say two officers tried to stop a 37-year-old known gang member who had an active felony warrant for drug possession. According to police, the suspect initially tried to get away, but was confronted by police. When an officer thought the suspect was reaching for a gun, the officer opened fire. The suspect was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Police say a bag of meth was found near where the suspect was shot. Investigators expected to be on scene for several hours.
