A Madera man is in custody on a $2 million bond accused of molesting a girl during a span of nine years.

Police arrested 37-year-old Salomon Montejano last Wednesday.

He faces 12 charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

The alleged victim is a 12 year old girl.

Police are releasing limited information at this time citing the sensitivity of the case.

"He's just arrested and suspected of these crimes. We also have to take into account the victim and what they might be going through," said Commander Dino Lawson.

He did confirm Montejano worked as the manager of the meat department at Food for Less in Madera. The crimes did not occur at the store and management would not say whether Montejano still works there saying they do not comment on on-going investigations.

Police would also not confirm the relationship between Montejano and his alleged victim only to say they are "not strangers."

"We don't want to jeopardize the case and so we do apologize, but there's only so much information we can release," said Lawson.

Each of the 12 charges Montejano faces carries a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Montejano is due in court Thursday morning for a bail hearing and arraignment.

Police urge anyone who may have more information on this case to call Madera police.
