Two men are dead after their twin engine Cessna 421 crashed near Shaver Lake.
Employees at the Wahtoke Grill and Bar were shaken by the tragedy.
Brian Seniff, Wahtoke Bar & Grill: "I heard a real high pitch like it was going down, and then it sputtered a couple times and then I heard the boom."
The twin-engine plane had taken off from a Salinas airport, and was headed to Nebraska.
The wreckage was found near the intersection of Dinky Creek and Nevins roads.
The fuselage has been located, but investigators are looking for the tail, and wings.
Elliott Simpson, NTSB Investigator: "At 7:20pm, it was lost on radar. The airplane was located at 9pm."
Relatives say the two men killed were 41 year old Scott Clarke, and his father, 67 year old Patrick Clarke.
Scott was a doctor in Springfield, Missouri, and his father an investor in Omaha, Nebraska.
Rocky Pimentel, Wahtoke Bar & Grill: "It was really sad. It was devastating to a lot of people. The whole restaurant after that just shut down. Everybody just went home."
The NTSB and FAA have taken control of the investigation from the Fresno Sheriff's Office.
The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
