A Hanford meat processing plant was temporarily shut down on Monday.
Federal agriculture investigators are reportedly looking into allegations of animal cruelty at the plant.
Brian Coelho the president of Central Valley Meat Company said in a statement that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has received a videotape allegedly showing inhumane treatment of animals.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has suspended operations for now.
Coelho, who has not seen the video, said the company is cooperating with the investigation and has hired an animal welfare expert to help in its own investigation.
