Kaweah Delta to host March 20 seminar on Colorectal Cancer

VISALIA – Kaweah Delta Health Care District will host a free Wellness & You seminar on colorectal cancer and how to prevent it on Wednesday, March 20, in Visalia.

The seminar will take place from 12-1 p.m. at Sequoia Regional Cancer Center, 4945 W. Cypress Ave. Speaker will be Amit Kamboj, M.D., gastroenterology. Registration is not required. Information: 624-2463.

Kaweah Delta’s event coincides with National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Here are some facts on colon cancer:
-Approximately 150,000 Americans will be diagnosed with colon cancer each year.
-It often has no symptoms until it’s in advanced stages.
-It is 80 percent preventable when detected early.
-You can reduce your risk of colon cancer through regular screenings.
-Beginning at age 50 (or earlier if you have a family history), everyone should get their colon checked.
