AUSTIN, Texas—Multimedia Games (Nasdaq: MGAM) is excited to announce that TournEvent of Champions – the fast-paced, nationwide slot tournament – is rolling into Eagle Mountain Casino on Tuesday, March 2.
One winner will be crowned the Eagle Mountain Casino champion and will go on to compete against other top casino winners at the final tournament in Las Vegas.
This year, Multimedia Games is cohosting more than 60 TournEvent of Champions qualifying events with casinos across the nation. Winners from each casino will receive a five-night trip to Las Vegas (including airfare and accommodations for the participant and a guest) to play in the national championship at Lagasse’s Stadium at The Palazzo in September. During the championship, they will represent their “home” casino and compete for a $100,000 grand prize and the title of Nation’s Best Slot Tournament Player. An additional $150,000 (in total) will be awarded to other placing participants at the championship.
On March 2, excitement will fill the air as the branded TournEvent of Champions tour bus arrives at Eagle Mountain Casino, bringing with it an almost contagious feeling of anticipation for both players and onlookers alike. It will certainly be a party on the casino floor – complete with music, balloons, and The Money Man® – TournEvent®’s larger-than-life mascot and good luck charm, and his entourage of MGirls.
Once the tournament begins, fast fingers and fast thinking will be key to taking home the prize. Players compete with each other in lightning-quick rounds, simultaneously spinning the slot reels and popping balloons on Multimedia Games’ touch screen machines. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top players: 2nd place gets $1000 cash, 3rd place gets $750 cash, and 4th to 10th place winners get $100 in fee play, with the 1st place winner moving on to represent Eagle Mountain Casino at the championship in Las Vegas later this year.
“Multimedia Games is thrilled to be able to bring TournEvent of Champions to Eagle Mountain Casino. We’re ready to share the excitement with the casino staff and players, as we look for America’s best slot machine tournament players,” said Linda Trinh, Multimedia Games’ Marketing and Promotions Manager. “We can’t wait to crown the winner and send him or her to Las Vegas to compete not only for the big cash prize, but for bragging rights for Eagle Mountain Casino,” she added.
A New Way to Play
Multimedia Games’ slot machines are gaining enormous popularity because of the unique experience they provide players. The games are designed with a player’s whole experience in mind and incorporate experiences commonly associated with smartphones and tablet computers, such as touchscreen play, player-facing cameras, and an enhanced social experience.
Fans and contestants especially love the features specific to the TournEvent, such as offering players the ability to earn bonus points through popping vividly animated balloons. In addition, The Money Man will appear as a larger-than-life good luck charm for players and a photo-op for spectators.
Party at Eagle Mountain
TournEvent competitions are also a great way for the 60+ participating casinos to reach out to familiar faces and attract new friends. These events typically attract quite a crowd of spectators eager to cheer on the players, learn about new games, and snap a photo with The Money Man. Because the daylong spectacle occurs on the gaming floor, casino operators get the opportunity to greet newcomers to the property and promote future events.
While the tournament participants have already been selected at semi-final events held at the casino earlier, those who are playing aren’t the only ones who are in for an entertaining experience. Cameras on the Multimedia Games’ slots capture a live feed of each player which is projected above his or her machine, allowing spectators to see who’s in the lead and watch players’ reactions as they cheer them on during the event. The combination of dynamic play and seeing competitors’ faces on the screen turns the slot experience from a relatively sedentary and isolated one to something thrilling, social, and truly requiring both skill and endurance. The touchscreen bonuses also mean the leaderboard can drastically change at any moment; it truly is anyone’s game until the final buzzer sounds. The costumed Money Man and his entourage of MGirls make the experience unforgettable as well. It’s all part of Multimedia Games’ philosophy: Play louder.
