While just about every other sector of the economy seems to be hard hit by the recession, one industry is booming; the bicycle business. Bike sales are seeing record highs, despite the downturn in the economy. Bike shop owners say cyclists are enthusiastic about riding, and continue to spend money on equipment and supplies. One local cycle shop says it is seeing a rise in the purchase of commuter bikes, possibly reflecting a desire for cheaper and healthier transportation.
