BuddyCheck 24: A Fresno Woman Finds Her Own Cancer

33-year-old Chinayera Black Hardaman found a suspicious lump in her right breast in November of 2007. It turned out to be cancerous.
This busy wife, mother, and executive director of Madera County's First Five program never expected a breast cancer diagnosis at such a young age. She decided to fight the cancer head on.
She had surgery and completed six rounds of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation.
Chinayera Black-Hardaman says finding her own cancer saved her life. She encourages all women to make their health a priority and do their breast self exams.

I've known Chinayera since she worked for the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento, Inc. after graduating from UCDavis. She is a brave, smart, beautiful, and articulate young woman. I have no doubt she will beat this thing and speak out to other women who find themselves facing breast cancer. Bravo Chinayera as always!
