This Saturday, May 10 is Super Pet Adoption Day. The event promotes animal adoption, spay and neuter programs and compassionate care of all animals. It's a day of fun, festivities and the valley's cutest and adoptable animals.

More than 400 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from valley animal shelters will be on hand for immediate adoption. From purebreds to purely irresistible, there's something for everyone. There will also be music and dancing with live entertainment, local celebrities, face painting, experts to answer questions about animal behavior, training and health, microchipping, and the latest in animal fashion.

In 2007, more than 84,000 animals were turned in to local animal shelters. Of these, 58% (48,000), were euthanized. Events like Super Pet Adoption Day help save lives.

Super Pet Adoption Day takes place Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at O'Neill Park on Barstow Avenue between Cedar and Chestnut.
