Navajo Code Talker's 90th Birthday

But this Veteran's day was uniquely special for one veteran in New Mexico.

David Patterson served as a Navajo code talker during World War II. He celebrated his 90th birthday Sunday on Veteran's Day.

Navajo code talkers transmitted hundreds of messages in their native language that the Japanese could not decipher.

His son says he knew his dad was a marine, but Patterson never spoke of being a code talker.
