Yoga to the Rescue for Working Parents

By Katie Flinn for KSEE Sunrise

About 60% of my clients at noon are working moms. This is their sacred time of the day when they can get away from work, home, and kids to reconnect with themselves.

After an hour long class, they put their power suits back on and tidy up their hair and they are back on the job, refreshed, alert and ready to tackle the rest of the day. Jen Britz has been practicing Yoga with me for over 3 years after staying at home with her son for the first few years she is back to work now and has had to change her life and schedule around. Yoga is still an important part of her daily routine and she makes it a priority for herself.

Any working parent knows the challenge of finding time to take care of themselves, not only to eat, sleep and exercise but just to BE is an effort at times. At COIL Yoga, one of our most popular classes is the noon time class held Mon, Wed, and Fri. It gives working parents a “time-out” in the middle of the day to d-stress, find peace and take care of their overall health and well being. How soon we all forget how wonderful those naps were when we were kids, it was just what we needed (although we didn’t know it) to get us through the rest of the day.

Now as adults, we pride ourselves on cramming every minute of the day with something “productive.” There is nothing more productive and proactive than your health. So, reschedule your lunch dates with yourself this week and come on into COIL Yoga for a mid-day treat, 0 calories and 100% good for you.
