Kiwanis and Boy Scouts Holding Electronic Recycling Event

By KSEE Sunrise

Collaborating up with Boy Scouts of America, Kiwanis International is organizing a campaign to help clean up our environment while supporting our Boy Scout leaders of tomorrow. Charles Diaz trucking is sponsoring the whole thing.

By collecting used electronic waste from the public to be recycled, the event is planned for March 29th & 30th. The event is being held at the Madera Ranchos Market on Avenue 12, from 8AM-4PM. Volunteers will be available to unload the electronics.

Electronic waste includes computers, cell phones, televisions, VCR’s, fax machines, etc. Every year, obsolete and discarded electronic products account for 20 to 50 million tons of the world’s hazardous waste. With global warming heating the environmental forefront, these students, with help of the local Boy Scouts Troop 118 and Kiwanis International of the Madera Ranchos are urging the community to do their share and partake in this event.

Working with the Boy Scouts of America and Kiwanis International is the perfect combination of combined community spirit. Working on this project can raise environmental awareness to the community that will be carried on for years to come. At our last recycling event, the Kiwanis Club of the Ranchos raised over $2000.00 which assisted with many community projects. This event will go towards admin costs, which aids the club in their daily operations.

Also to remind the public that their contribution will not only help the environment but it is also tax deductible.

Kiwanis International is a service organization whose mission is "Serving the Children of the World". The organization was founded on January 21, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan by Joseph C. Prance and Allen S. Browne
