The Smog City Roller Grrls take on the Sonoma Wine Country Home Wreckers on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

You can check out the chills, thrills and spills at the Ernest Valdez Hall located in the Fresno Convention Center. Doors open at 6 p.m.; bout begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Children age 10 and under are free. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention (FCCAP) to kick off April as Child Abuse Awareness month.

This is the third time Fresno's first and only roller derby league has skated competitively in their hometown.

The Fresno team has been skating as a league since April 2006 and is growing by membership and popularity every day. The league currently practices at Cary Park behind Fashion Fair Mall on Monday, Thursday and Saturday nights.

For more information on bouts and membership, you can call the Smog City Roller Grrls contact line at (559) 222-SCRG (7274). You can also visit their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/fresnoderbygirls.
