This morning on KSEE Sunrise Faith Sidlow talks with Annie
castmembers about the depression era musical and the connection with the stock market crisis of 2008.

Third through 12th grade students from Clovis West area schools are in the middle of a two week run of the musical at the Mercedes Edwards Theatre in Clovis. The remaining performances take place tonight, Friday and Saturday--November 20-22. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or on line at cusd.com/tickets

The story takes place in New York City during the Depression. Annie (Signe Olson, Lincoln Elementary) lives in an orphanage run by a mean, alcoholic spinster named Miss Hannigan (Becca Bishop, Clovis West). All of the orphans, including Annie, hate Hannigan. Hannigans is furious when Annie is chosen to spend the Christmas holidays with the wealthy industrialist Oliver Warbucks (Johnny Missakian, Clovis West). Warbucks loves Annie's optimism and wants to adopt her, but Annie is holding out for her real parents to return. Warbucks offers a fifty thousand dollar reward to find Annie's parents. But Miss Hannigan's con-artist brother Rooster (Dylan Waite, Clovis West) and his ditzy girlfriend Lily (Charlotte Speck, Clovis West), concoct an evil scheme to pose as Annie's parents, get the reward, and dump Annie. Along the way Annie befriends a mutt named Sandy (Nick) and even President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Kevin Hammond, Clovis West).
