This morning on KSEE Sunrise Faith Sidlow talked with Carole Lester with the Fresno Historical Society about this weekend's Huntington Boulevard Home Tour.

The Fresno Historical Society presents its 30th annual historic home tour November 13 and 14 featuring five beautiful historic homes on Huntington Boulevard. Gather on the front lawn at 3555 Huntington Boulevard on Friday evening, November 13 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM for wine and harvest supper catered by Love & Garlic, followed by a candlelight tour of the five homes on tour.

Saturday morning at 11 AM join us at the Library at Roosevelt High School for an illustrated lecture by Karana Hattersley-Drayton, City of Fresno, Historic Preservation Officer and a panel discussion “Greening Up Your Historic Home” with Jon Carroll, homeowner and preservationist who will talk about remodeling his Huntington Boulevard home; Joseph Oldham, City of Fresno’s Sustainability Manager who will cover the science of energy efficiency (including why window change-outs are NOT the best way to conserve energy and money) and Chris Johnson, Historic Preservation Architect , who will discuss how to “Rehab Right” using the Secretary of Interior’s Standards. A question and answer session will follow. From Noon to 4 PM take the tour and discover the way these homes have been preserved, maintained, augmented and remodeled while remaining true to the original design. Observe the lovely gardens as well!

Tickets for Friday evening are $50.00 per person; Saturday tickets are $30.00 in advance, $35.00 day of event. For more information contact the Fresno Historical Society at 559.441.0862 or buy tickets on line at www.ValleyHistory.org. The last mailing of tickets will be Tuesday, November 10. Tickets purchased after November 10 for the dinner will be held at “will-call” located at the dinner site; tickets for the Saturday tour will be available at “will call” at the Bernhauer Home, 3428 E. Huntington Boulevard.
