Body Of Fallen Soldier Returns HomeThe body of a fallen soldier from Merced returned home from Iraq Friday. Servicemen carried the casket that held the body of Private First-Class Lukas Hopper. Hopper was killed in Iraq when his vehicle rolled over last week. The 20 year old had been in Iraq for more than a year, and was just nine days away from coming home before the accident. A public viewing will be held at Stratford Evans Funeral Home in Merced from 4 to 7 Friday night, and from 8am to 10am Saturday morning. A funeral will follow Saturday's viewing. Convoy of Hope Heads to Southwest FresnoThe international non-profit organization Convoy of Hope brings their larger than life community services project to Edison Computech on Saturday. They'll be handing out 160,000 lbs. of food, in addition to providing health services, haircuts, a carnival, and employment services. Organizers say this could be the most volunteers they've had at an event, and that they'll be ready to serve an expected 15,000.
