Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said at a press conference on Tuesday morning that one person is confirmed dead in a shooting at a poultry processing plant in central Fresno.

Dyer says the suspect, Lawrence Jones, is an employee of the former Apple Valley Farms at Blackstone and Hedges and opened fire on his co-workers in the middle of his shift early on Tuesday. Jones then turned the gun on himself.

At this time, four people are being treated for injuries at local hospitals including Jones, who suffered a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Dyer also says that Jones has an extensive criminal record and is a discharged parolee.
