Fired librarian plans to sue

By Preston Phillips

It all began on February 28th at the Lindsay City Library.

That's when Brenda Biesterfeld says she caught 39-year-old Donny Chrisler looking at child pornography on a library computer.

Biesterfeld says she then went to her boss, who told her not to report it to police, but one day later she had a change of heart and made the call.

Just a few days after that, on March 4th, police set up a sting operation at the library and caught Chrisler allegedly looking at child porn again, subsequently finding even more at his house when they conducted a search.

On March 6th, Biesterfeld was fired... for what she calls... standing up for what is right.

The Tulare County Board of Supervisors, after meeting in closed session all day, decided that letting Biesterfeld go had nothing to do with the call she made to police.

They say there were legitimate business reasons aside from her call to police that supported her firing, adding they were legally prohibited from releasing that information without a signed request from Biesterfeld.

They say that unreleased information on her performance is the reason she was released from her duties as a librarian assistant 1.

That information will not be released, according to the board, until Biesterfeld signs papers, releasing.

Biesterfeld says she does plan to have that confidential information released to the public, because she says she has absolutely nothing to hide.

Biesterfeld's is now planning to sue Tulare County for firing her on March 6th.

Her attorney has already contacted Tulare County supervisors in regard to the litigation.

The board is now arranging for an independent investigation to be performed under the oversight of a judicial official.

Chrisler remains in The Tulare County Main Jail on seven counts of possessing child pornography.

He's being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before a judge, tomorrow in Porterville.

It's funny to me how everytime an employer wants to fire an employee for no good reason, they say it was due to "poor performance". How coincidental that this firing for poor performance came at the same exact time as the other issues. Get real!
