(Press Release) A 17-year-old North Fork girl is facing assault charges following a stabbing during a booze fest at a campsite off Beasore Road near Bass Lake late Monday night. Her alleged victim, a 20-year-old North Fork woman is reported to be in stable condition.

A frantic call to 9-1-1 sent Sheriff’s Deputies to McLeod Flat at around 10:35 p.m. Monday night.

The caller claimed he was being chased. It’s not clear what his story was, but deputies quickly learned that a stabbing had taken place. They would later arrest a 17-year-old girl in Oakhurst.

The 17-year-old High School student, whose name cannot be released because she is a minor, reportedly showed up at the McLeod campsite with her 20-year-old male friend. Both were purportedly kicked out by party goers.

Due to the stabbing victim’s level of inebriation, as well as others on scene, deputies are still trying to piece to together what happened during last night’s fest that led to the attack.

Close to 20 people from Oakhurst, Coarsegold, North Fork, Madera Fresno, Clovis, Auberry and Ahwahnee attended the campsite bash. The revelers ranged in age from 17 to 25 years of age. At least five of the attendees were under the age of 21 and all female. Out of those 5 girls, 4 of them were 18 and younger.

Deputies found the 17-year-old High School student at a home in Oakhurst, where she was taken into custody shortly before midnight.

She says she acted in self defense.

Meantime, some of her clothing was located in one of the bedrooms. Her pants found in the washing machine – which had already been turned on before Deputies arrived. The woman of the house was ordered to turn it off so that deputies could seize the pants as evidence.

Sheriff John Anderson says several of the adults present at last night’s party may be facing charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
