North Valley egg farm accused of animal cruelty

By KSEE News

Animal rights group Mercy for Animals released a disturbing undercover video Tuesday revealing what it calls the 'violent' treatment of chickens at a North Valley egg farm.

The group claims the video was taken by an employee of Gemperle Enterprises in Turlock. It shows chickens kept in cramped conditions, with no room to spread their wings. Animal rights activists say they hope releasing the video will spur changes to improve the treatment of animals in California's egg industry.

The group wants a new initiative pertaining to the treatment of animals on the November ballot. Gemperle Enterprises of Turlock has not returned phone calls made by KSEE 24 News.
