Gas mix-up causes costly repairs

Local mechanics say that mixing diesel fuel with your regular gasoline can cause serious problems and even kill your engine if you don't catch the mix-up in time.

Putting gas in your car is supposed to make it run better not get it towed away. One driver said her car started to shake and then it would not run. This was the case for many car owners this weekend who used contaminated gas at an estimated 16 gas stations in and around a 50 mile radius of Fresno.

It looks like deisel fuel got mixed in with the regular unleaded gas which caused the contamination in the ground. Diesel is not as clean as regular a Kinder Morgan spokesperson said. Kinder Morgan is the company that owns the pipeline. A total of 16 tanker trucks were contaminated. They say all of the contaminated product is back at their facilities, and they are monitoring the situation closely.
