As the summer flying season gets closer, travelers are set to face delays, cancellations, and crowds at the airports. What rights do you have to get where you need to go? Not many these days, but fliers are fighting back and seeking new laws to protect themselves.

Passengers used to be protected under something called Rule 240, a federal regulation that required airlines to put passengers on the next available flight, on any airline available, if you got bumped or your flight was delayed or canceled for non-weather related reasons. But since airline deregulation, that rule no longer is mandated, although many airlines still abide by it to help their customers.

A move is underway to get a new Passenger Bill of Rights passed in the U.S. Congress. It would provide passengers with certain rights if they get stuck on airplanes sitting on the tarmac, or if they get bumped from their flights or face cancellations. Currently, the bill is stalled in the Senate.

hello, i just wanted to share that i have been attempting to view this video and i am very interested in this story, but for some reason it just won't play. it starts off and about 10 seconds into the video, it just stops.
