Students hospitalized after bus breaks down

By Jon Brent

6 high school students were treated and released from Community Regional Medical Center after their chartered bus had air conditioning problems and broke down on I-5 and Panoche Road in west Fresno County. The students were among 70 high school seniors from East Union High School in Manteca north of Modesto returning from a senior trip to Disneyland.

A second tour bus from Manteca also developed problems and stopped as well when the first bus broke down. The remaining students were taken to a nearby McDonald's and given water. All of the students, except those taken to the hospital, were picked up by parents or put on other buses and continued home to Manteca.
