Eight people were arrested Thursday in what the Fresno County Sheriff's Department is calling the largest marijuana grow ever discovered in the county. This is the latest news release from the sheriff's department:

Fresno County Sheriff’s investigators completed their eradication of the marijuana grow on S. Indianola Ave last night at about 8:30pm.

The final count of marijuana plants exceeded the first reported estimate. 43,604 plants were eradicated by investigators. The estimated street value of the marijuana would have been just under $175,000,000.00.

This is the single largest marijuana grow ever discovered in the history of the Sheriff’s Office and Fresno County.

The marijuana grow was so large that several detectives from throughout the Sheriff’s Office were called in to assist in the eradication efforts.

When that was not enough, additional investigators from the California Department of Justice’s Central Valley Marijuana Enforcement Team (CVMET) and the Fresno Methamphetamine Task Force had to be requested. In total, 35 officers assisted in the eradication.

Due to the large scale of the operation, the CVMET had been, and will continue to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Discussions with the U.S. Attorney’s Office are forthcoming as federal charges will likely be filed. It is unknown at this time when the suspects will be arraigned.

It is sad that our Gov. targets Cannabis. Seems like Meth is not as important to eradicate. Out Gov needs to stop wasting money trying to eradicate a plant that God put here.
