The Merced County Sheriff’s Department is looking for 25 year old Christopher James Marberry who is described as a “light skinned”, black male adult, 5’-8”, 165 pounds, Black Hair, Brown Eyes; Marberry’s date of birth is May 8th, 1982. Marberry was last seen driving the victim’s vehicle, a 2003 Black Lincoln Navigator CA LIC 5KFY850. The suspect is known to have family in the San Francisco / Oakland Bay area as well as the Modesto area. Marberry should be considered armed and dangerous.
Merced County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were dispatched to the 6600 Block of Bailey Street in rural Merced County at 11:30PM with a report of a shooting.
When Deputies arrived on scene, they found a 29 year old female identified as Ramona Schmitz laying in the master bedroom with multiple gun shot wounds. Deputies found a 6 week old infant, unharmed, in a swing next to the victim’s bed. The six year old daughter of the victim reported the shooting to a neighbor, stating that her stepfather had shot her mother. The neighbor called 911, went to the home and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. The neighbor retrieved the infant from the home. The suspects’ vehicle was found in the driveway of the residence and the victim’s 2003 Black Lincoln Navigator was missing.
