Telegraph Fire: Tuesday evening update

By KSEE News

The Telegraph Fire continues to grow - up to 30,000 acres burned.

More than 3,500 firefighters are battling the blaze. Containment is at 15 percent.

Cal Fire now reports 25 residences and 32 other buildings have been lost.

Highway 140 into Yosemite is restricted, but the park is still open.

Highway 41 is the best bet for getting in to the park.

Firefighters say weather conditions are improving, making it easier to battle the blaze.

According to Cal fire there have been 12 injuries to firefighters.

The cost of fighting the fire so far has exceeded $9 million.

The following communities remain threatened by the blaze: Mariposa, Midpines, Greeley Hill, Coulterville, El Portal, Morman Bar, and Boot Jack.

Highway 140 will be closed between 8 am and 9 pm, 3 miles west of Briceburg and 4 miles west of El Portal at Cedar Lodge.

A mandatory evacuation for the Midpines Community is in effect.

An evacuation advisory is in effect for all residences in the immediate fire area, which includes communities east of North Highway 49 at Mykleoaks Road south to the Highway 140 junction.

This also includes communities west of Highway 140 from Mariposa north to Briceburg.

I was at the Mariposa High School meeting last night and they said Mormon Bar and Bootjack have been removed from the list. The speaker from Cal Fire said they are having a hard time getting enough help to update the maps.

Info on threatened communities came directly from the CalFire news update

Mormon Bar and Bootjack are on Hwy 49 South and are not threatened. This is incorrect information...

Since when is Bootjack threatened? That community is on the 49 on the south side of Mariposa (toward Oakhurst) The Telegraph fire is on the other side of Mariposa. There is nothing on the CDF website about Bootjack being threatened. Get your info correct.
