Merced Neighborhood Shocked As Teen Arrested in Toddler's Death

The Neighborhood on the 1300 block of W. 3rd Street continues to mourn the loss of McCowan. Police arrived Sunday morning to find that the victim had been beaten and that the 16-year-old admitted to hitting the child. The Juvenile was found to have a felony car jacking warrant and was arrested for this crime. After conferring with the District Attorney, additional charges of Homicide and Child Abuse were levied against the 16 year old.

Everyone makes bad decisions at some point in their lives,that they live to regret. As parents we are supposed to be advocates/protectors of our children until they reach the age where they can do for themselves. Just as this precious little boy depended on his mother, there should have also been someone for the 16 year old to depend on. I'm sure when the mother left she had no idea upon her return her son would be dead. Rather than say words to cut deeper,we should show mercy, as GOD would!

My heart goes out to the family. Maybe the mother will wake up and take better care of her surviving child and not leave him with an unfit caregiver for five days.

I have so much sympathy for Que and what she is going thru right now. I am also the grandmother of the 4 year old child and I wish the best for him. If there is anything I can do to help out, please let me know. Please don't make negative comments about Que because she loved her boys very, very much. This has torn her apart so just leave her alone, unless you're going to help her and stand by her and her family. Hang in there Que and call me if you need me.
