Merced Family Pushing For Juvenile Charges

King Steven McCowan was found dead Sunday morning at the family's home in Merced. King was 21 months old. King's cousin and babysitter at the time is 16 years old and he is now facing serious charges according to Merced Police.

Police say the child "looked to have been a victim of a recent beating." The 16 year old juvenile admitted to punishing the child the night before using a belt.

The Merced District Attorney says it will take one week to decide whether the teen will be tried as an adult or a juvenile.
