Thursday, the Dos Palos School Board meeting began with pledging allegiance to the flag, the same flag, 15 year old Jacob Shelley, was punished for wearing on his t-shirt Tuesday during Dos Palos High School, "hippie day."

The sophomore was forced to take off his red, white and blue t-shirt in exchange for one that read “dress code violator.”

The school's vice principal believed his patriotic shirt to violate a dress code rule in the high school's handbook.

The rule states, “no shirts or blouses that promote specific races, cultures or ethnicities."

The vice principal has since apologized, but many attending Thursday’s meeting weren't satisfied with a sorry; they want the handbook changed.
