A second death has occurred in Fresno County from the West Nile virus.

The woman died last month. Health officials have not released her name. They do say she was over 50-years-old. West Nile is normally the result from mosquito bites.

David Luchini with the Fresno County Health Department says 12 zip codes in Fresno County have reported West Nile cases. And that no matter your age, anyone can be affected. "We've had younger people that have come down with symptoms of West Nile virus, so it's not something that if we're not in a very young population is something we need to ignore."

It's the first time two Fresno county residents died from West Nile virus since 2005. Back in August, an elderly woman died due to complications related to the virus.
