Pixley Boy Charged with Homicide

Just before 11 this morning in a home on East Wright Avenue in Pixley, Tulare County sheriff's deputies say 76 year old Shirley Bowles was shot by her 12 year old grandson.

Bowles died on the way to the hospital.

According to a family member inside of the home at the time of the incident, Bowles and the boy got into some sort of argument.

Neighbors in this Tulare County farming community say they never saw this coming.

Those who knew Bowles say the community of Pixley lost one of its proudest residents.

The 12 year old faces homicide charges.

The boy is being held at the juvenile detention center in Visalia.

Shirley did get this boy help, repeatedly. He had a mouth and attitude and I saw/heard him screem at her and say he hated her. He was frequently out of control. I did see something bad happening to him, but not this. Figured he'd get into drugs or a gang. It's very sad and my family has lost a dear friend.

my condolences 2 the family, it's ?able what rilly happend? this case needs 2 b very closely investigated, who knows he might not b the killer, he could of easily been eather blamed 4 it or even forced who knows what happened, a 12 yr. old boy shoulden't be tried life in prison, he needs 2 b evaluated some how, he could easily b a kid who was abused, threatened, sexually ausalted, who knows, please b aware he is a minor and needs to be very well investigated.
