Valley shoppers having hard time putting food on the table
On Thursday, the Dow dropped more than 400 points in the final hour,finishing below 9,000.The Nasdaq lost 95 to finish at 1,645, and the S&P fell 75 points to about 910. The financial spiral has had a terrible effect on many aspects of the economy. Despite massive government intervention, experts say the deepening recession may get worse before it gets better. KSEE 24 News spoke with customers at the WinCo grocery store in Fresno to find out how they are stretching their dollars these days. Many of them say they're having a much harder time putting food on the table and admit their paychecks just don't go as far as they used to. Shoppers report that the prices of staples, like bread, milk, produce, have all risen dramatically in the last year. According to MSNBC, prices of fruits and vegetables have shot up by 7.6 percent over the past year, while dairy products have jumped 9.2 percent and cereal 10.4 percent. in fact people that are being laied off current jobs are having dificult time at this time there is no jobs around to apply for and if you apply for un employment and being a single mother it's not enough welfair its rediculess they give you no choice but to pair up and try cualifing that way and always ask for to much information people are living in thair cars out in the street low incom houseing is also not helping no one please be advised we need jobs and the comunity is not helping
