Local radio legend, Woodrow Miller's life is much like the jazz music he loves so dearly; infused with individuality, marked with improvisation.

In his 81 years of life, Miller has done it all and learned a lot.

40 years ago, he challenged the status quo as one of the first African American’s to run for Fresno’s city council.

Miller said, “We did good. We didn’t make it, but we opened some doors for a lot of people.”

With a Barack Obama victory, the doors swung wide open Tuesday night giving Miller’s life added meaning.

Miller said, “That’s something we have wanted for so many years… it equates to progress in America.”
