Tulare Teacher in Court, Child Porn Allegations

Raymond Ferenci has spent the last two decades working as a band teacher at Tulare Western High School. Six months ago he was placed on paid administrative leave while authorities investigated alleged inappropriate text messages involving several of Ferenci's students.

While investigating the allegations, authorities searched Ferenci's computers and said they found dozens of images of child pornography. The complaint filed following Ferenci's arrest stated the defendant admitted to the inappropriate text messages and the viewing of the child pornography. He apparently told law enforcement he looked at the images out of curiosity.

Ferenci will be released pending the outcome of the case. He will be under tight restrictions. He is not allowed to have access to a computer or cell phone. He must stay 100 feet from children. He must also be supervised when he is near his own children.

Ferenci will be back in court Nov. 21, for a preliminary hearing.
