School rallies around student battling cancerOne Madera school is doing their part to help the family of a student battling cancer. Dozens of volunteers and students at St. Joachim's School spent Friday raising money for Kobe Garcia,10. Back in September, Garcia was diagnosed with brain cancer and since then the whole school has rallied around him, as he goes through treatment, with well-wishes and prayers. But students, parents and staff wanted to do something more and Friday they did. Kobe's illness has truly inspired what our school is all about. We teach community, service to others, and Christian values. Our whole school is involved in prayers, volunteering, and giving what they can to help his family. It has touched everyone's heart here at St. Joachim and even those who don't really know Kobe. May God Bless his family.
