Around five o'clock Friday evening, police say a white male in his early 20's with facial hair walked into this Washington Mutual on the corner of 10th and G in Reedley, demanding cash.

Steve Wright, Reedley Police Chief: "The teller handed some money to him, then he showed the device, when she turned away to tell the manager, he took the money and left the device behind."

The device, which police described as a stick of dynamite with a red flashing light, forced police to evacuate businesses in downtown Reedley and cordon off 4 square blocks: from 11th and I to 9th and G.

Around 8 pm, the Fresno County bomb squad could be seen entering the bank, and within minutes, destroying the device left behind by the suspect.

Soon after, investigators moved into assess the crime scene.

Just last month in Dinuba, a similar occurrence at the bank of the sierra, on the 400 block of Tulare.

The suspect, also described as a white male wearing a fake beard, walked into the bank, demanded money, and when he walked out, left behind what was later determined to be a fake bomb.

That suspect is still on the loose tonight.

Wright: “Dinuba Police are investigating, but at this point it’s too early to tell whether its connected or not."

The bank robbery suspect is described as a white male, six feet tall, weighing 150 to 180 pounds.

He also had a beard, which may have been fake, and was wearing a baseball cap and a checkered shirt with a jacket.

If you have any information on this incident you are asked to call Reedley Police or Crimestoppers at 498-STOP.

Now bank tellers will perform an audit to determine how much money was handed over to the bank robber.

Police still aren't sure if the device was an active bomb.

The device is currently in pieces from being blown up by the bomb squad.

They do say it appears as though it was made with household items, to look like a bomb.
