Marijuana ID Cards come to Fresno County

In Fresno County, when it came to marijuana possession, there was no distinction between a criminal and a patient.

Tuesday, on the approval of the Fresno County Board of Supervisor’s, the Health Department started taking applications from patients requiring medical marijuana identification cards.

To qualify for an ID card, applicants must have written proof of their medical condition and diagnosis from a California licensed doctor.

Although there are no medical marijuana pharmacies in Fresno County, the ID card allows the patient to legally purchase product from marijuana pharmacies.

The closest one to Fresno patients is in Tulare County.

12 years ago California State legalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

The federal government still considers all marijuana use and purchase illegal.

It's about time that Fresno County administrators move themselves and our community another step closer toward the 21st century. This move is long past-due, but "better late than never".

The County should open up a non-profit pharmacy and give the proceeds to local school and/or programs cut by the their budget problems.

It took the Fresno County Board of Supervisor’s 12 years to do this. Why did it take so long were they stoned?
